I am having a very difficult time finding a new wiper switch for my 1985 corvette. Mine seems to have a mind of its own! It works... but does not want to shut off or does in mid cycle then starts up again, at any speed, fast or slow, or intermittent????  I can only drive my car when it is nice weather.  Very frustrating !!!! Any thoughts or suggestions will make my day!!! Thanks Brian.

sounds like a bad connection at a junction box under hood. Someone will chime in with the exact location to look but I've read about this very problem b4 -- quite common and apparently an easy fix -- just matter of cleaning up the connections.

Thanks for the information.  I will look into finding and cleaning the terminals in the junction box and the switch terminals as well. I just find it very odd that nobody has a OEM switch or any type of switch at all to replace it.  I know I can try the salvage end of my search, but am very leery of it.  I would have thought, with all the Corvette parts in Mid America, Ecklers, and Corvette Central... that this would not be so difficult!

I'm not aware of anyone reproducing the wiper switches, either. Ouch
Not sure the problem is with the switch, tho....but it may be. Have you tried unplugging the switch to see if the wipers were still demon possessed? If they are with the switch unplugged, you need to start looking for a short to ground(a bare wire that is occasionally touching ground) somewhere, probably right around the wiper motor itself.
If the wipers do NOT spin around backwards with the switch unplugged, then you know it is definitely a problem with the switch. You'll need to either replace it, or possibly open it up, and see what might be the problem.
The wiper delay/intermittent module could also cause weird problems like that. Unhappy

The OE part number for the switch is: 10045832

THIS SITE
shows that two different places have that switch in stock, for considerably less than $300!! Worth a look...

Never mind..I just checked...neither of them have one in stock....lyin bastiges! Angry

Thanks so much for the information and your efforts!!  I am going to try to fix this problem this upcoming week.  Also I am ( with some friends ) install a new Cat Back system that was a Christmas present from my Wife.  It is a Quad Power exhaust from Mid America.  I cant wait to hear how it sounds!! I bought some 3-M electrical cleaner to use on all the connections from the wiper motor to the switch... hopefully this solves the problem!  I truly think it might be from water running through the weather stripping on the door and got the switch wet and leading to corrosion on the terminals.  All around weather stripping is on the way and to be installed professionally. Thanks again, Brian.

The good news is .... this company makes them....   http://www.wellsve.com/ecatalog.html Wiper switch Stock No SW836....  It is kinda like looking into the candy store with your nose pressed hard against the glass.

The bad news is .... I emailed them to enquire about who retailed them and got no response.... so I bought a way over priced OEM NOS switch on eBay.   Replacing a 30 year old worn out switch with another 30 year old worn out switch doesn't make a lot of sense to me either.

Good luck...
