I posted this on another forum I frequent, and have a presence on.  SyTy.net is a small, close-knit community of about 50 Syclone and Typhoon enthusiasts that give each other chit most of the time, but there is a wealth of knowledge among the members.  Thought ya'll would get a kick out of the responses. One is correct.

"pressure switch for ignition kill, you have to push on that spot for the car to start " makes a lot fo sense, since it is connected to a relay, but..... This is my favorite answer/guess!! LOL! "Gaydar. Keep that bitch away from Warren. "

You are welcome, any time!  I always buy the official service manuals for any vehicle I plan to keep.  They are invaluable when you try to work on them yourself.  I found used service manuals for my 95 Vette on eBay.  I also bought service manuals for my 1990 K-Blazer too.

472 views, 21 replies in <12 hours. Not bad for a Board dedicated to a marque of such limited production..... They only built 7,697 SyTy's, vs 358,000 C4's.

Gary Shannok is a long-time professional audio / alarm installer in the Miami area. He posted "antenna for teletrac type device". Odd location, but a Corvette's GRP body is transparent to RF, so I guess it would work, but its not very well concealed. I've found trackers in Syclones and Typhoons installed when the cars were new (91-93), and some of the installations were very ingenious and well-concealed.

I also like this one posted by Mike in Denver who is a long-time Independent used car dealer / broker: "looks like an old school dealer installed theft system, there is a transponder fob deal that you run over it to start the car. "

The "gaydar" comment was a friendly jab between two long-time peeps that often dic with each other. Completely "normal" considering the source and intended recipient.....

I poked around in the wires and can add a little more info.  There is a second rectangular device connected to this unknown disc.  They are connected to the instrument panel/speedometer by two wires.  One wire is spliced to a pink wire in a blue connector and the other wire is spliced into a red wire in a black connector.  I do not know what these two wires connect to in the instrument panel/speedometer area.  Maybe it is so the government/CIA/space aliens can watch me and track where I go?

Now it's looking more like it IS a locating antennae set-up. We install stuff like that sometimes on cars that are financed, so the lender can locate, and disable the vehicle if they need to./ Makes re-poing them much easier.

I looked in my 95 Helms manual and cant find connector colors as described for the inst panel. The only "red" wire I could find is a red/blk stripe in the theft deterrent system for the rear hatch input. Pink is almost universially hot in IGN position in a GM car. So it knows when the key is in run.

I have no idea what the "red" wire is. It most likely is NOT a "hot at all times" battery wire, as red is only used for unfused circuits. Once they are from a fuse, "hot at all times" is orange. There are no unfused circuits in the cabin except the ign switch and light switch feeds.

Today I removed the trim panel, cut the wires and took the unidentified aftermarket item out of the car.  I thought that because it was spliced into the wires in the Vette that it would not affect its starting and running if I took it out.  The car started and runs OK after I did take it out.  There are no identifying names or words on it of any kind, only the numbers 021095 stamped on the rectangular piece.  I untangled all the wires and took another picture of the device, so if anyone has ever seen something like this they can let me know what it might be.  Thanks.

I think it is part of a GPS locator, for a finance company, or just basically a "lo-jack" of some sort. Chunk it in the garbage....Thumbs Up
