i have an 84 with crossfire engine.a couple of months ago it started to run rough. it would surge going down the rd and cut off at stoplites. would barley restart and then act like it was flooded, would have to hold pedal wide open while it sputtered and smoked until it smoothed out. changed plugs, wires, distb cap, rotor button and it got better for a while.then this past weekend, as i was leaving a car show it started doing it again. i am not great with all the electronic stuff, if any one has any ideas i would be grateful. thanks

may be the module in the distributor going bad. used to be when they went the car wouldn't run at all. newer ones wil act up run fine and act up again. made it a real PIA to figure it out. hope this helps.

I PULLED CODES FROM COMPUTER.only 1 code. low water sensor circuit. replaced sensor and found shielding  around both wires on plug broken away. repaired plug and replaced thermostat. tried that little trick i found on one of these forums, drilling a hole in flange on thermostat. it worked great. system filled a lot quicker and no air in system. car started great and runs great. when i shut it off and restarted, it started great. hopefully that solved my problem.
