Hello,  Just purchased this 95 and battery in the only fob they had was dead.  I replaced the battery but does nothing.  I am hoping it just needs reprograming.

I hope you get it sorted out easily.  My 95 didn't come with a key fob, as PO lost that.  It doesn't bother me any, but if I did have one, I'd want to get it working.  Do you have pics of your "new" 95?

I turned my VATS "off" because walking in and out of range of the antenna had the locks popping continuously which I find a little annoying. However, now the remote doesn't work at all (for the hatch too). Could be someone has disabled yours too, or .... could be the remote.

Owner's Manual has the "programing" info, if you have the manual. Doesn't really seem like it could be a bad battery if the alarm is arming/disarming properly....the fob is basically a tiny transmitter, so it needs power to transmit....
However....the alarm, and the fob functions MAY have different algorithms that would require resetting the fob after battery replacement.
Here's some info....

IMPORTANT: Always make sure the radio is turned "OFF" while programming the PKE system to assure proper results.

Up to three different PKE transmitters can be programmed to each vehicle. Each transmitter has its own unique Vehicle Access Code (VAC). The user must initiate the program mode, then program one to three transmitters. If the programming sequence is canceled before any transmitter is programmed, the previously stored codes will remain in memory.

If the battery is disconnected, the PKE receiver will still remember all vehicle access codes currently programmed to that vehicle. Programming is initiated by entering a specified button sequence on the Driver information Center (DIC). The DIC interfaces with the Computer Control Module (CCM) . Refer to Figure 4 for the program mode Initiation procedure.

PROGRAMMING STATUS
While the system is waiting for a transmitter to program, the PKE lamp will flash the number of the transmitter to be programmed (flash once for the first transmitter, twice for the second, and so on). When a transmitter is within range a code is stored, the lamp will be illuminated continuously as long as that transmitter remains within reception range. When a transmitter which has already been programmed is brought back into range, the lamp will remain flashing until a new transmitter is brought into range. Once the programming of three codes has been completed, and the third transmitter is outside reception range, the lamp will not be illuminated again.

PROGRAMMING CANCELLATION
The programming mode will be canceled if any of the following conditions are met:

  • The key is removed from the ignition.
  • Ignition is turned "ON."
  • The PKE system has been in program mode for longer than 2 minutes.
If the program mode is canceled with less than three codes stored, the receiver shall only accept the codes just stored. If the program mode is canceled before any code is stored, the previously stored codes shall remain valid.

MY VETTE ALREADY HAS 3 CODES BUT I DON'E HAVE ANY OF THE KEYLESS REMOTES.  I PURCHASED A NEW BUT I CAN NOT PROGRAM IT.  IS THERE A WAY TO CLEAR THE OLD CODES SO THAT I CAN PROGRAM WHAT WILL BE THE FORTH AND ONLY REMOTE FOR MY CAR.

If you reprogram it for the one you have, it automatically deletes the existing fobs. That's why you have to program all of them (up to 3) at the same time. Follow the instructions posted above. That's how I programmed my '96!
