Hello to the C4 nation, I just purchased 4 Nitto tires NT555 for the front and rear for my 1995. I could not locate the PSI for the tires for normal street use so I contacted Nitto tires. During the conversation, I was informed that the tires I purchased did not have the Load Rating required by the factory. Front P255-45ZR17 Load Rating 92W Factory 98W Rear. P285-40ZR17 Load Rating 95W. Factory 100W Basically Nitto said these tires will not carry the corvette weight. I asked how can you sell a tire that is not correct for a vehicle? He did not know why. This problem is between me and the tire store. I'm in the process of trying to have this tires replaced. I have talk to other corvette owners, they said the tires should be ok. Has any C4 owner purchased this tires? Any feed back will be appreciated, thanks

Nonsense!!  I've bought and used several sets of these tires for my 1990 ZR-1 and my 1995 ZR-1.  My friend who sells tires also used them on his '91 ZR-1.  They are a great all-around tire for the Corvette, and I'm sure many members like myself from the ZR-1 Net Registry will agree with me.  For the price--especially for the price--you cannot beat them.  Just use the tire pressure indicated in your doorjamb and don't worry.  My doorjamb says 35 psi for both front and rear and that's what I use.

I have them on my 96 and very happy with them after trying a couple of other brands.  Also, have several friends with C5's that have them.

I wanted to thank everyone for the information on the Nittos tires. I'm glad every body is happy with the tires. After all my research, I decided to keep the Nittos and keep an eye on how they will wear, since I can rotate them. I'm still playing with the PSI. I have the Nitrofill in the tires and I'm keeping the tires at 35 PSI. So far so good.

I'm sure the Nitto tires will not disappoint you.  They have been a very good compromise tire in every respect on two of my C4 ZR-1 Corvettes.  Keep us informed of your experience with them.

How do you intend to rotate them, since you have "staggered " sizes?   There are many who do NOT recommend swapping tires from side to side, unless you dis-mount, and then re-mount and re-balance them, so they do not end up rotating in the opposite direction.   Are your tires directional?   If so, that procedure would be a requirement if you change sides!

Nitto 555 tires are directional, so they'll have to be physically removed from the rims and remounted on the other side.

I had a set installed on my '96 LT4...decent tire, a little squirelly in the rain. I put 40k miles on them (mostly highway miles, it was my work car). After about 30k miles or so they started roaring and the car rode like a log truck. Also, at temperatures below 40 degrees or so they ride rough, flat-spot, and takes about 20 miles or so to warm them up to do away with the flat-spots. FWIW, I also experienced this same issue with a set of General G-Max tires on my C5.

DISCLAIMER - these tires are advertised as performance summer tires - use in cold climates my produce adverse effects. That's why I mentioned the flat-spotting in cold temps.

Hey all, I have driven about 1,500 miles on the Nittos. Took a couple of trips, so far the tires are great. I'm keeping 34 PSi on all tires and I'm also using Nitrogen.
