Over the past few months the passenger window switch has begun to fail when trying to raise the window. '94 convertible (It works to lower) The drivers side is fully functional for both raising and lowering the passenger window. Is the switch defective requiring replacement or can it be taken apart for cleaning ?

Thanks, looks like I'm off to the parts people. Tougher job than I thought finding the switch. Any leads that I can use? Also, does the switch come out from the panel when I get the replacement without taking the door panel off? I appreciate your responses.

Probably the best solution is a new switch but you can also try to remove the switch and douse it with TV tuner cleaner to remove possible corrosion on the switch contacts.  This helped me when I didn't want to replace my '88 power seat switch when it didn't operate a couple of years ago.  Radio Shack or some other electronic parts store sells the tuner cleaner.

Purchased a 1986 Convert August 2013, Bright Red color with a black top, it'd already received a Tremec 5 speed upgrade along with a disc upgrade prior to purchase.

What he said ^  Had this on my truck.  If the contacts are bad, you may disassemble and get them going but it's likely temporary only.   Get a new switch and be done with it.

After much searching, I was able to get a replacement window switch for my '94 . Whew! Does anyone know if the door panel needs to come off to replace the switch or if it can be replaced without removing the panel? Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have to say thanks for all the advice. I was able to find a replacement switch and install it without without removing the door panel. I just had to record the correct color pattern on the old switch , 6 wire harness, and transfer them to the new switch positions. Total time 10 minutes max!  A special thanks to corveddie. I also now have a lighted switch as the original's light had burned out and I never knew it. Thanks again to all.
