Topic: ??? Crazy Posted: February 07 2010 at 6:40pm |
Why do people call me crazy for driving my vette all year round. Just because we just got 15 + inches of snow? Hey the rubber tires don't know if they are on a vette or a SUV.
I think my C4 handles just fine in the snow.... as long as you go slow.....lol.
I LOVE DRIVING MY VETTE even in the SNOW.
Are there any other CRAZY people out there??????

Probably. But the world always needs more parts cars. So if you keep it up, there's a good chance we'll see you listing stuff in the parts for sale section someday.

I don't drive mine in the snow cause I don't think it handles well in that weather plus the fact that my vette whimpers whenever I open the garage door and its snowing.. LOL. By the way enough already, I live at the Jersey Shore and we have had the most snow in over 15 years. Come on spring.....

Salt Salt Salt! Corrosion can chew the heck out of a car. Even a Corvette has metal parts that can corrode. When your roads get treated with road salt 5 months of the year, 'tis best to let the babies hibernate from 1-November to about 1-May. I know, 6 months is a vvveeerrryyy lllooonnnggg tttiiimmmeee to be without a Corvette. I would really like to live where I could drive my car year round. I also gotta believe the car would be a real handful on an icy road.

Hey sundew, I'm trying to understand the logic behind putting away a Corvette in the winter time as if it is a beach blanket (I live at the Jersey Shore and there are other so called CRAZY people driving there C4's, C5's and C6's all year round).
A friend of mine has a 1988 Ann. vette and has had MORE problems with the car ....BECAUSE of LACK of use, so he spends BIG money to have it fixed only to look at the car in his garage.....and a dollar to a donut, when that perfect day comes around..... if the vette starts.....he rides around with the SES on........must be great...... .
I do drive my vette every day Rain, Snow, Sun. and I assure you the rubber tires do NOT know if they are on a vette , van or SUV. The secret is to drive slow and stay alert....oh yeah yeah some one could crash into you... BUT that could happen with the car parked in your garage (some idiot could loose control and BAM). So Enjoy the ride you deserve it....
In closeing I say let's start a (WINTER Corvette Driving Club) ......wana join ....lol...

88blackvette,
Do you ever go to the cruise on Sundays at the Burger King on ? If you do, is it worth coming down to since I'm only down the road? Thanks, Poolman

Hey Poolman,
Not many people show up at Burger King on Sunday's (fair weather drivers) BUT when the clocks go ahead for spring, the cruse is moved to Friday 6pm - 9pm.
During the summer you have to get there before 6pm if you want a parking space. It is a good time, lots of weird stuff there. I go every Friday. You should check it out.

i live right around the corner from 88 blackvette. i dont drive my vette in the snow as i usually am driving a snow plow . as a matter of fact, i have been driving that plow a lot this week. i think i was driving it a total of about 60 hours. i do drive my 90 all year round except in snow as my tires aren't designed for it. if it ain't snowing and when it isn't in the body shop i drive it all the time. the 75 stays in the garage for the winter as the heat doesn't work. poolman, would be great seeing you at burger king on fridays.

Vette(s): 87 Red Coupe, with 139+G miles, great running engine, 24 mpg, daily driven 90 miles, still drives like a Vette! It's my first; now I know what the fuss is all about.

We don't get much of that snow stuff in Phoenix, so I'm blessed to be able to have a Corvette as my econo-cruiser work-driver, which I get to take 90 miles a day, at 23-24 mpg, with sun in my face. Don't cry for me, and I won't, either!

Omnibus Curious: First Time Corvetter, so don't know all about 'em, but know I like to drive mine and look at all the others.
