Well Ive owned my 1996 C4 for 6 years. Its been a great car.
I have some people ask me if I will stay with the
C4 or get into a newer Vette like a 2002 C5. I guess a C5
would be easier to enter and exit other than that the C4
does everything I need. Anyone here think about getting a
newer C5 or C6, or are you still happy with your C4?

Nope, like my C4. But if I win the Powerball, a new Grand Sport or ZR1 would like nice parked next to it.

I have a 1996 Collector Edition coupe with the LT4 engine. Looks and runs like new with 24000 miles on it. 203 coupes were imported to Canada for 1996 and only 83 of them had the Z15 option. Don't know how many of those had the LT4 engine.

Hi all;
Apart from the earlier classic Corvettes of the C2 generation, I have to say the C4 is my absolute favourite. It looks like a Corvette with the more refined and sleek body compared to the C3 cars and certainly, in my opinion, better looking than the later C5/C6 models.
I think that the C4 will remain a highly desirable body design among Corvette lovers.

Nope, no desire to change here. Besides, I enjoy actually getting greasy working on them. The new motors are covered in plastic!  You can't even see the filth. Too technical for an old grease hound like me.
C4master, your profile says you own 1969, 1996, 2009. What do you think of the 2009? How does it drive? I've never driven one so I'm curious.

CORVETTE. Much cooler to drive than a rusted purple 1974 Pacer with no air and a shattered windshield.

The C6 is nice on longer drives and there is more interior
room. The C4 is a tighter fit. Easier to enter and exit in the
C6 also.

I can't see me letting my '96 go---I've looked at other generations and driven many---my first love as a high school kid was a neighbors ''67 427/435 blue Vette. I love the C3 Mako body style. The brother in law has a '04 C5--great car!! Had a chance a few months to get in a C6 ZO6 which was modded for the track at VIR---what a AWESOME car  Overall as far as driveability/performance and fuel economy I like fuel injection over carbs.... That said I've recently looked at 2 different C3s should the right one come along---who knows??? In a perfect world I'd own a Vette for every day of the week

Before I bought my C4 last August, I was lookiing hard for a C5. After really thinking about it and considering the difference in price, I decided on the C4. The car had 7600 miles on it when I bought it and I agree with you, it does everything I want it to do and does it well. The only issue I have with the car is I would love to talk to the guy who decided that putting the parking brake on the door side of the drivers seat. He must have had a brain cramp that day.

I love our '87 C4 it's a classic! It's like driving a big go kart. The looks are so much better than C6 in my opinion. Somehow the C6 rear quarter looks too short for the car. If we found the right C5...maybe some day I could be persuaded but a C4 ZR-1 would be first in the stable.

It just goes to show ya, all Corvettes must be pretty neat for all 6 generations to like themselves and each other so much. If you have any one of the Vette flavors, you are a lucky duck. My C4-87 is my first, and I love driving it every day, but I suspect that it would be nice to have a C5, someday. No hurry, though ....

I've driven many C5s, and a few c6s. IMHO, the C6 is a better car, both
inside and out. I cannot get comfy on the C5 no matter what. The C6 is a
better fit for me. The C5 is an even tighter fit for me than the C4,
which is already bordering on masochistic.
If I was to come into the $$$$ to buy a "new" Corvette, it would hands
down be the C6...no doubt aboot it.
But...my butt still fits and feels better in the Shark...

I can't see myself switching antime soon. I bought my red 89 C4 last August at Corvettes at Carlisle after waiting 20 years. It was my high school dream car, and it was just never the right time to buy one, you know life got in the way. Even after driving a C3, and a C5 I stiil found myself in love with the C4. My first drive in the car was the hundred and some odd mile trip home from Carlisle and it was very comfortable, ran great. I am a heavy set guy with short legs and the C4 interior seems to fit me the best. The styling still looks contemporary, and the performance is really very good for the time. I would at some time add a later C4, but I don't see myself replacing this one anytime soon.

Well, the weather here in Minnesota has been really warm ~80 yesterday. I have owned my C4 since january and it has been covered in my garage. It has been uncovered and driven a bit over the last couple of days. It is a joy to drive...it turns!...something I could never get my C3 to do....could never seem to eliminate the understeer....has more power than I will probably ever use....but I did show a rice rocketeer the joys of low end torque...sorry couldn't resist...tried to race me to a lane reduction in a Honda...what a maroon!....
I am a big man and the C4 fits me so much better than the C3....there were times when I had to convince myself that driving the C3 was fun....I am looking forward to a fun filled Corvette summer!

Other than my '75, I have the '85 and '87. Maybe one day I will get a LTx C4. I love the C4's. When I belonged to a Corvette club I got to drive cars from every generation (except C2's). I loved them all... each generation is so different from the last. I want another 'vette bad... but at this time since I have a C3, and 2 - C4's I'll probably get a C5 convertible (maybe this fall). I gotta stay more focused on 1 of every generation (goal) at the same time.... I just got side-tracked when I bought the '85 hehehe

I really love my 95 Coupe and do not intend to replace it. I plan to add to the collection next year with the purchase of an 09 (convertable?).
I am somewhat troubled by some recent posts on the Corvette Forum regarding the perceived demise of the C4. The posts describe a deminished number of C4s on the road. While the smaller numbers could bring about an increase in the value, I wonder if the value will be there if the trouble with finding replacement ECMs is not solved. I intend to pass the 95 down to my son when he is able to properly care for it but don't want to hand him something that doesn't run.
Anyone have thoughts/news on the ECM issue?

If you're speaking of "new" ECM/PCMs for a C4-- I doubt you'd find one (at least very easily)-- however "remans" are available for the LTXs such as yours. I would suspect they are available "remaned" for the L98s as well because they were used for seven model years ( not sure because I've never tried to locate a L98 ECM). Earlier years would likely be more difficult to locate--since the '84 crossfire was a one year C4 I would imagine the ECM would be difficult to locate.

I'm with you.. Even tough 84 is not considered one of the best years for corvettes due to the crossfire injection and the lower HP, mine is paid for, has 26k miles, shows like new, rides great, still turns heads, and more importantly I like it.....LOL I love the C4 style, have no intention of changing, but if I did it would be a C6 not a C5....
