Maybe you can pull the fuel line off and pump it out just by turning the key to on .....

You won't get all the water out with the in-tank pump. Plus, do you really want to run water through the fuel system? (I'm assUming you haven't already attempted to start it).

Buy a 2' section of 3/8" copper tubing, and a 5' section of 3/8 clear vinyl hose. Put the vinyl over the end of the copper, and insert the copper into the bottom of the tank through the filler. Start a siphon, and siphon the water out.

With today's ethanol content, the water will 'mix' into the fuel to a certain extent. So empty the tank with the siphon, and refill with clean ethanol-laced pump gas. It will fix itself.

To answer your question: Most early fuel injected GM's have a terminal in the ALDL that can be used to introduce 12V into and the pump will run. I know 84 through 88 C4  have it. Not sure when it stops. Terminal G in the ALDL. Later C4's have a single terminal, red wire, about 2" long sticking out of the main harness near the brake booster. Same thing: apply 12V, and pump will run.

just a suggestion here--- why not just take out the fuel pump and then you have more than enough space to get in the tank. 4 screws hold the gas door on and about 8 bolts around the flange and the whole unit will come out. hope it goes ok for you.

And yes I tryed to start it but noticed miss and shut off at once put pressure tester on fuel rail and relieved pressure on tester it has a long clear hose and sure enough could see the water. I use fuel system cleaner and stabilizer so the water was milky not pure water thank goodness. went this morning and got the stuff I think I need to drain the tank and system. will drain the tank, flush the system redrain the tank again. then start fresh with some good petrol..

Brian, Dave and Eddie thanks. I used all three of your suggestions and I am back in business. took me about two hours to drain the tank. could only find quarter inch hose and tubing. once tank was empty filled with fresh gas. used the terminal under the dash to flush fuel rail and return line til only clean fuel was flowing. put everything together and vrooooom. Thanks again you three. Big help. I owe each of you a six-pack.
