Swapping Crossfire for Carburetor (1/10)

Has anybody removed the TBI system and replaced with a carb?  What are the pitfalls?

Have '85 vette orginally with TPI.  Changed over to a Eldelbrock carburetor system.  Edelbrock AVS2, 650 cfm

carburetor and Edelbrock manifold.  You will need a pressure regulator with gauge to keep your fuel pressure

to 6 psi to make the system work with the carburetor, that is...if you keep your present fuel pump.   All runs great. 

Gas mileage sucks...but understand HP jumped up about 10% with the modification.    Good Luck.

Consider the following 

With the help of the Crossfire injection system, engine output for the 1982 Corvette was 200 horsepower at 4,200 rpm and peak torque of 283 lb/ft. at 2,800 rpm. Although that number seems low by today's standards, it was the highest output for a small-block Chevy in nine years.

 

The Crossfire induction system was also available on 1982 and 1983 Z28 Camaros, but only on the 305 cubic-inch motor (RPO LU5). In the Camaro, the Crossfire motor gave 20 more horsepower over the carbureted 305 engine.

I have replaced my IAC valves. That is when my problems worsened.  The was stalling from low idle. I replaced the IAC's and now my idle is between 2500 and 3000 rpm's. I cannot get it to drop. The carb seemed like an easy fix.

An even easier fix would be to take it to someone who knows how to tune a crossfire

 

i had to one degree or another most of the issues described - for example “idle hunting “ , sporadic Check Engine light

Took to experienced Corvette shop. 
They replaced all vacuum lines. 
even ones that appear to be serviceable if they are original ( most of mine were) are past their useful life by many years. At the least the rubber had deteriorated to being  slightly porous 

The shop did exactly as described in the video i posted - and replaced the items suggested

Been running as supposed to 40,000 miles +

It is not a complex system but if you are not familiar/experienced with it  - very easy to f*** it up
