Hello. I am a student from Russia, Moscow. I'm sorry for my English, it is very bad and I use Google translator to write this. I'm going to buy a C4 Corvette. There are very few of these cars in Russia, and I do not have a lot of money. So I have no choice, now there is only one car that I can buy. I ask you to look at the pictures and answer my questions about it. Seller says it's 1988, but I have some doubts about the originality of some parts of the interior and exterior. Please look at the photos and tell me, what parts in this car, except the rear spoiler, are not original and do not apply to 1988.

Thank you!

It looks to me that that is a 1990 Corvette. That is the only year that had that combination of exterior and interior. And except for the wing, it looks like a stock 1990 to me.

Yes...that was my thoughts right away also...it's a ninety.
And for sure that wing; or as I like to say; pigeon perch is not stock, and I can't for the life of me figure why anyone would put that thing on their car.

Thank you! And what can you say about side mirrors? This is the original Corvette mirrors, or not? I was searching for pictures of cars with such mirrors, but I only found one, and it is also in Russia. And I do not understand, what with Side Marker Lights, that should be installed on the bumpers. Are the cars without them were Produced? Or someone took them off and closed up the holes?

Yes, you are right on there. My old tired eyes missed them.
Side markers are missing, and the mirrors are not stock.
The mad flaps do not belong either.

I agree. Never seen mirrors like that on any Vette. Side markers are missing, and those mud flaps are definitely non standard. (Normally I would call them splash guards, but those really look like mud flaps!) Other than that, it looks like a 1990 Corvette.

Thank you! In addition, there are other problems:
-No emblem on the hood and Corvette lettering on the rear panel.
-No aluminum distributor cover
-Exhaust system. It is incompleteness, or modified.
This car needs a lot of work to bring to its original condition. This is a good reason to reduce prices.

And shouldn't there be rear side markers, also? (The longer I look, the more I see.)

Those "flag" mirrors are typical European. (I have no idea why the U.S. mirrors are not compliant). The 'missing' side marker lights look too 'factory'. The Black Book states that 951 1990 Corvettes were sold in Europe.  I'm wondering if this is one of them? If you post the VIN, I'll run it through compnine and see if any of the export RPO's were included in this car's build.

The C4 was intended for export from the beginning of its development, and requirements were incorporated into its basic design. Such as the 84's non-European compliant turned-down exhaust exits that kick up dust became straight-out for 84 exports, and fitted to all models with the 85-up.

Does it by chance have a brass "Calloway" tag rivited to the hood support? (Just kidding, probably not. But put this in to show I pay attention).

I was just about to say the same thing...it has to be an export MY (model year) 'vette. The lack of side markers was strange to see. Did anyone else notice that the center caps on the wheels are missing? They'll be difficult to find I'm sure.

You can get the center caps for stock wheels from the normal sources. Expensive, but available.

Not only are the side markers missing, but so are the front cornering and rear side back up lights.

Side window glass is usually different for European cars. It is laminated, rather than tempered. The 'bug' on the window should indicate what type of glass it is.
