hi! will the z 07 c4 will be included as a special or somewhat rare vette soon as they are pretty rare cars produced at only +/- 700 units a year and like a zr 1 without the expensive lt 5 engine option Wink  just want your opinion on that...

From what I could see in the 'Corvette Black Book' the RPO Z07 option was a higher performance suspension/brake package that was available from 1991-1995.  While there were relatively few cars built with that option (between 700 and 900 per year) I don't know if they were considered a special edition.

Does anyone else have some more information about those cars?

I agree with Norsky. That option would not constitute a collectable car.

The "Special Editions" section of the forum is for the cars that GM produced as such. This would include the ZR1, the Pace Cars, '96 Collectors/Grand Sports, Calloways, Corvette Challenge cars, etc.

A car (or cars) with "rare" options, such as performance suspensions, paint/interior color combos wouldn't be considered a "Special Edition" as far as the forums go. Having a "one of a kind" special built car(as in the only one known to have been produced with specific option combos), while still rare, and possibly more valuable, wouldn't be considered a "Special Edition".

While it may never be considered an official special edition, if it interests you keep a thread on it and let people with that option check in.  I personally like seeing unique information like that.  Myself, in my search for a c4 Im really hopping to come up with a 2 tone 87, or one of a few other colors from that particular year. Most people wouldnt say that an 87 was particularly special, but looking at the build numbers they had alot of color options that year. That being said, they had several color variations that had production runs of less than 500 each.  That sets it apart from the norm, which I like. Thumbs Up

I don't know the number of 40th Anniversary Editions, but with only 2050 35th Anniversary editions, this could be a really small Forum. Because I know something about the 35th I will use it as an example. I would guess less than 1/3 are still on the road. Some in private collections and some wrecked. So if there are 5 or 6 hundred that are still driven and need TLC, this could be a lonely forum.
So is your Vette a "Special Edition"? Of course it is!!! All the Vettes I have owned were special.
I ran an Yahoo group for the 35th owners and only got 8 contributors that posted every month and then the interest dropped over the winter to just me.
So I am heading over to General, and posting as just another 88 Vette that happens to be triple-white. Thumbs Up

I was part of the 8 on the Yahoo group for the 35th owners that pkasar speaks of.  With only 8, it was hard generating conversation to get all involved.  I am not sure what it takes to get other 35th owners involved or make them aware of these sites.

I belong to the 35th Registry which had its own site, but has been undergoing a rebuild for a long time.  I believe the last time I looked, it had in the area of 80 plus users, but only 26 members registered their cars in the data base with their car's number, (which I thought was pretty cool).

I like the idea of having the special section because it tends to address certain issues that pertain to that specific model, i.e. the white interior, anniversary emblems, etc.  I know as a member of the 35th registry, there are a lot of members, many that do not even visit websites because they do not contain a section that focuses on their particular car.  I would like to think that they will come as more sites like this begin creating the special areas that focus on these cars and they become aware of them.

Most sites I visit today do not focus on Anniversary, special editions, etc.  It is geared to the series of the car more than anything, i.e. C!, C2, C3, C4, and so on.

Just my 2 cents worth...

Any discussions on any of the Special Editions here would be welcomed by all, I would think. You don't have to actually own one to want to learn about some of the intricacies of them.
As has been said, some of them do have certain areas that are wildly different from the "normal" production cars. I wouldn't mind learning more than just what info is out there in published form...I'm an info junkie! Need input! #5...alive!

Sorry...had a flashback there for a second...
