OK my friends the nasty cold winter weather has started here in Central New York (well I must admitt its just kinda cool and rainy compared to a normal mid December winter) and I have decided to venture into the "weatherstip " zone of my vette. I want to replace the ugly sun crazed and split rear roof / rear side window weatherstrip. Any hints or suggestions (i.e. hidden fasteners, retainers etc.) before I begin?

Here's a link that covers replacing weatherstrips and a rag top. This article really helped me about 4 years ago when I did both. About 50% of the info talks about replacing the weatherstripping. It gives you tips on what to look for and how to make the job easier, that probably applies to non convertibles as well

Thanks for the link....beautiful day here so I took on the task, actually my better half replaced the B Pillar weatherstrip. I just played side line coach!. She did a beautiful job and it looks great. About 45 minutes to remove and replace (and thats spending 10 minutes searching for the end fastener I dropped on the floor). Top was a bit of a job lining up the cones on the rear but a little persuasive pressure solved that issue ( new thick seal). Amazing how different  my coupe looks with a new B Pillar seal.

I changed all the rubber on my 96 'vert last month.

I agree. What a difference. I love the new way the doors and window's close. I had to adjust the windows so they fit the new rubber. The top latches down so much tighter, too.

It's a shame our 'vettes were put together with products that don't hold up well. I have a 1995 Camaro 'vert that the rubber looks like the day it was made.

Oh well, it gives us something to do during the cold, cold winter.
