got a question? just got my dream car about a month ago. 85 came out when I was 16 and I've wanted one ever since. sorry my question is on the console opposite the mirror select switch is what I understand is the overdrive switch on the manual cars but I have an auto and I can't find any info on it. It's a two position switch off on. anyone help me out. By the way when I flip the switch nothing happens unless it is and I'm not finding it. Thanks

Vette(s): 1985 Coupe-L98/Auto,Bright Red/Carmine.
1974 Coupe-L48/4speed, Medium Red Metallic/Black Deluxe.
Should be the left/right mirror select switch. As in, flip it to the left, and the joystick controls the left mirror...flip it to the right, and the joystick controls the right mirror.

should be your left/right outside sideview mirror selector switch....click left or right then move joystick and watch your mirror move.

Possibly your Vette was "born" with the 4+3 tranny and for whatever reason converted to automatic. I'm pretty sure there are 3 letters stamped on the engine block as a suffix to the engine number which would tell what the engine was originally mated to (manual or auto)....this is one of the things used to determine a numbers matching car.
Years back when I joined the NCM besides the build sheet, copy of the original window sticker etc. I also purchased a "Corvette Black Book" which had the above info. Further if you can locate the build sheet that alone will tell you how it left the factory. I may be way off base but it is a thought .

Interesting concept, but it is entirely possible....a trans swap.
Look on the underside of the storage compartment doors. ON one of them, you'll find the RPO code list of how the car was originally equipped. If you see MM4, then it was originally a 4 speed(Nash 4+3), if you see MXO, it was originally an automatic.
A pic would help, too, if possible.

It is an original automatic car. The switch is not a real big deal just would have liked to find out what it was for. the manual only talks about it being the overdrive switch. I really love this car. I am looking forward to making it my own. It was not taken very good care of by the guy I got it from so now it is in a loving home now. I do have another question though how important is it to keep it original? it was origanally a blue with blue interior. someone had it painted white and left the int. blue. I'm banging my head against the wall about changing everything black with red int. or take it back to blue with blue int. what are your feelings about this it is a great car sport seats all the bells and whistles. the L98 tune port injected which I love I would have liked the manual trans but it is quite fast with the auto. thanks for the info.

There are size limitsfor uploads, so ya gotta watch that. You can probably re-size the pic down to around 800 pixels, and it will load fine. If you need help doing that, check out the FAQ section here: http://www.c4vetteregistry.com/vrforums/faqs-tips-read-before-asking-your-question_message400574.html
I'll also P/M you with my email, and you can send it to me, and I'll get it up for ya.
I'm kinda curious now, to see what it is. It may be something that the PO added for some reason...maybe an ejector seat, or flamethrower....ya never know!
