The switch is not a real big deal just would have liked to find out what it was for.
Take the screws out and lift the center console plate up an inch or two and see if any wires are connected to it.
Perhaps someone in the past substituted a manual-trans console part into your automatic car? Although by mid-85, the overdrive switch had been relocated into the shifter knob itself, so that two-switch part would be early.

I'm banging my head against the wall about changing everything black with red int. or take it back to blue with blue int. what are your feelings about this it is a great car sport seats all the bells and whistles. the L98 tune port injected which I love I would have liked the manual trans but it is quite fast with the auto. thanks for the info.
Everyone is different when it comes to original vs. modified. As for me I like to keep it as close to original as I can but I do enjoy a good "Periood Correct" modification. So basically, it is your Vette and only you can decide what you want for it. The members research section does give the stats for your car, and apparently there were 2 catagories of blue that year
20/23 | Light Blue/Medium Blue | 1,470 | n/a |
23 | Medium Blue Metallic | 2,041 | n/a |
So there were not a lot of either one of them built, That will certainly add to the rariety of your car and in my humble opinion would most definately be a fact worth considering when deciding on a color.
Plus I really like that particullar color of blue on a vette.

Vette(s): 1985 Coupe-L98/Auto,Bright Red/Carmine.
1974 Coupe-L48/4speed, Medium Red Metallic/Black Deluxe.
Here's a pic of the switch Martin has in his console...looks factory to me. Perhaps someone did swap the console plate, but I don't know....I'd also take the plate up and see if it was actually connected to anything. If not, you could use it for something...

Ya...me too!
If anyone wants to see the full/life-sized version of the pic, it's here:

Hard to tell, but it looks like the console may have been cut to install the switch....either way, if it's not connected to anything, I wouldn't worry about it either. Ya never know...it may be hooked up to a kill switch...or maybe it was used to arm a nitrous system before....
