Vette(s): I own one 1986 C4 coupe in like new condition with 30k miles. I own a second C4 convertable with 100k miles I am restoring.
Hello Members,
My 1986 silver C4 coupe body has an area of the body that has faded slightly due to the sun I believe.  The car's entire surface paint area is practically perfect except for an area just behind the passenger side window, part of the door and quarter panel.  You really can't see it unless you view it in the sun. I tried the usual detailing and buffing but the paint looks too thin in these areas.  Is it possible to have these areas resprayed and match the rest of the car?  Does anybody have any experience with this problem?

IMO.. as long as the rest of the paint on the rest of the car is in good shape, a good body shop should have no trouble painting and blending it in to match the rest of the car. i have seen repairs at the body shop that fixed my 90 and when they get done you cant tell where the new paint is. check out the shops reputation.

I always found silver to be the hardest color to match and/or blend back in my old body shop days. Like Dave said, make sure the body shop has a very good reputation

Thanks Eddie, good advice.  I am surrounded by good body shops in my neighborhood I can try.  All kinds of car people in Campbell, CA.
