I got mine back from East Coast T-top and it looks great!
I paid a little extra because I had him work on the body connection points ( where top connect to car). That bracket was stripped. I had a few other issues that needed to be corrected not affiated with the actual top glass. Seems that prior owner must have had some issues ( I had leak) and also had rust removed etc.

I spent a little over 1K to get all work done but actual charge for just top was $625.00. plus tax. This included repaint on the exposed aluminum. I dropped car off late on a Thursday and it was ready Monday at about 9 am.
If I had sent away for refurbished from one of the catologues I am pretty sure I would have not gotten core charge or had refund lessened because of some rust issues.
I recommend highly and if you have the time you may want to drop car and have him check panel alignment to car. World of difference on my car. Looks great and eliminated a lot of squeaks/groans from the top. Also much easier to get re-attached.

adjusting the the connection points is pretty easy. if you see it done you realize how easy it is. know about your surgery and as long as he was doing the replacement he should have it adjusted great.
i have a white top that i have to modify the frame so it mounts to my car. it was from an 85. i have the front mounting brackets from my old top which is where the difference is. will drill and tap the frame to mount the brackets and then reattach the roof to the frame. that will be my winter roof.

Well I got a great deal on a smoked top. I was trying to not spend a lot since I am investing in the full 4+3 rebuild this year. So I put a wanted ad up on craigslist. Got a reply from a guy selling one from his former '86. He said no scratches or cracks and wanted $250. Took the hour long drive one way. Got there and it looked great but not perfect. Got him down to $200 plus he threw in the ratchet style wrench ( which I did not have ) plus a set of blackout tail light covers ( which I will probably sell ). Overall I am very happy. I will try to post some pics this weekend with it on.

sounds like you got a good deal. guess you cant expect perfection when you buy used but it does give you some bargaining power. good luck and can't wait to see the pics.

can you wait call tompsons astro tops i got one i will tell you this it's realy nice the glass sets on a gm frame with all new weather seals . it's perfect. also they have a one year warn. the weather seals are latex just like gms are however they will last much longer. besides that you'll know you will get the right one for your car. there web address is www. astrotops.com. i conceder them to be the best . i only paid 650.00 with exchange.
