At about 55,000 miles the clutch in my 1993 base convertible started to slip. Inspection of the flywheel, friction disk, and pressure plate showed a worn out disk and scarring of the flywheel and pressure plate mating surfaces. As conventional wisdom at the time held that dual-mass flywheels could not be resurfaced, I had a Fidanza aluminum flywheel and RAM disk/pressure plate/hydraulics installed - an incredibly poor (and noisy) choice for a street car with 3.45 final drive.
Fast forward through 5,000 miles of miserable driving (although miserable driving in a Corvette is better than good driving in just about anything else) to making contact with Jim JANDIK at PowerTorque Systems in Iowa (641-342-7446). Jim has discovered the secret to resurfacing LUK dual-mass flywheels that are in good condition, except for the mating surface. Luckily, I had retained my original flywheel, as it holds the true balance information for my LT1 externally balanced engine. Jim was able to resurface it and provide superbly re-manufactured master and slave cylinders, as well as the odd bits of hardware that got tossed when the aftermarket flywheel and clutch went in. I also scored a good, used Valeo pressure plate to complete the OEM setup, as well as a Valeo disk.
As the ZF gearbox had to come out in order to do the clutch work, I bought a new one through Bill BOUDREAU's (aka "ZF Doc") ZR51 Performance in Arizona (602-319-6575) and had him blue print it and install one of his short-throw shifters.
I can not say enough good things about the final result. The drive train performs flawlessly, and the gearbox is a real joy to shift. Anyone having flywheel, clutch, and/or gearbox issues with his or her C4 would be well advised to consult with Jim and Bill. Both are very generous with their time and advice and offer real quality products and services.

Resurfacing a dual mass flywheel was considered a black art not too many years ago. It has been found that there is indeed ways to get it done. All that is required is a way to lock the two sections together, and machine just like any other flywheel. Getting someone to do it, however, is the only problem now. Glad you found a reliable source!
