Thanks Joel. I'm trying to figure out the exact location on this 92 so I can unplug it. Is there a diagram or picture looking from undereneath the car that is available? Thanks

AllData shows it to be on the driver side, about the middle of the trans case, right where the main case, and the rear case bolt together. It has a two wire connector, with a green w/white wire, and a black wire, in the connector. If you do unplug it, be sure to wrap the two open connector ends with some tape, to keep them from getting any doo-doo up in them...especially any water. That can cause a problem...

I love my automatic....I have a Jeep Wrangler with a 5 speed and that is sure lots of fun too....yes a B & M shift kit is the nuts..I installed one on a 5.0 Mustang LX and it was amazing...could actually chirp the tires if I manually selected the gears between 1st and 2nd and again from 2nd and drive.......bottom line is we're all driving amazing vehicles now...either auto or manual.

Jed:
Also have a '92 with "male" tranny. You can buy a CAGS eliminator bypass thingy. It just plugs into
Also the ZF takes a very specific trans oil. GL-3.  Gear oil is categorized from GL-1 to GL-6, and the ratings are not upward or downward compatible (i.e., it is not okay to use GL-2 or GL-4 in a transmission that requires GL-3). ZF is recommending to use either the GM factory fill (GM Part # 1052931) or Castrol Formula RS Synthetic. The Castrol oil is not available is stores. You can get it at a BMW dealer. As I recall its 5W-60 motor oil. ZF recommends a change every 30k. Don't use Redline or Royal Purple. They are not GL-3 rated.
This is a German tranny. If they say use GL-3, then "You vill use GL-3 or, you vill be shot!"

Cheers, Dave

I wanted to give an update. I took my 92 over to my mechanic and put it up on the lift. We unplugged the CAGS soleniod and taped it up. The car looks brand new underneath by the wayWink.......Took it down from the lift and the problem was gone.......Runs like the champ that it is! Thanks to all for the advice  Smile
