Check the info on the diff. itself??
From what I have read, 2.59 was the predominant gear-set, and the .308 was the sport gear-set. there might be another gear-set for H/O cars (just guessing).
If in doubt (and easy) the best idea is to check the diff. tags, with the idea nobody would install different gears and keep a correct tag on the diff. housing identifying to gear-set inside.
Good luck!
Jim

For '85, it was a 3.07 ratio.
The choices for '96 were:
2.59
3.07
3.45
You'll need to check your RPO code decal to determine which one you have. The decal should be on one of the rear compartment doors, or it may be on the center console/arm rest door.

I may have missed it but didn't notice what trans you have. My '96 LT4 with ZF 6sp is a 3.45 and on the build sheet this is listed as a GM3. I have many ref books at home (spending holidays in the Philippines with in-laws where it is 90deg.
) and would be glad to look it up for you.

I have a question for everyone too..I've seen numerous ref's to a G92 performance option and have never found what the ratio is . Does anyone know?
Yeah, the G92 RPO is a 3:07 to 1 ratio. I believe it was used only in conjunction with the manual ZF giving an additional 5 horse power, from 240 for the automatic to 245 for the ZF. I know the ratio is right but I stand to be corrected on the rest of my claim.
