U joints

Have a knocking sound coming from my right rear tire, could this be a U joint or is it a bearing ?

Visually look for red dust around the joints.
 
Jack up that side and jiggle the wheel in and out holding it at the 12 and 6 oclock position and see if there is any slack at those bearings.
