Ok guys, I'm new to this and have a problem.  I have some old tint on the back window that I really need to get off.  I've tried scraping a little but can't seem to get it started.  Plus I'm afraid of messing up the defroster if I scrape too much.  Anyone have any ideas on (hopefully) an easy way to get this stuff off?  It's old and turned purple and has bubbles in it so it looks really tacky.  It really needs to go.

I think there is a solution you can get at parts houses(PepGirls, NAPA, etc) that will loosen the tint. If not, some ammonia on a rag will do it, but that gets kinda stinky.
You might try calling a local place that does tinting, and asking what they use.
 You definitely want to shy away from scraping it with anything...the defroster grids are pretty delicate to start with.

try scoring the tint between the defroster wires ( a pain ) and then if you can get your hands on one of those hand steamers it may loosen the glue. you can also try hot water with vinegar like they use on wallpaper. come to think of it a hair dryer may warm the glue up enough to loosen the glue.if you can get the car in a garage you maybe able to heat the outside of window enought to loosen the glue. start where it is bubbling up and see what happens. hope some of these suggestions might work.  dave
