turned on my lights fri morning (kind of dark now with the time change) and noticed my right headlight was out. went to auto store and picked up a set of bulbs figuring i would change both while i am at it.

changed the right bulb and tested but it still doesn't light. will have to get my trusty test lite out and figure where the problem is.

Check the fuses first....

are there two serparate fuses. left side works ok. or is there a relay for the headlights. will check the power on the wire at the plug in the front well. if there is power there it might be somewhere in the assembly itself. the right side was where the car was hit.

Ya...there would be separate fuses for each headlight, IF there are fuses for them on your car.
I forgot aboot the mishap, so it's possible there might be some wiring issues that got missed or something. Did they both work after you got it back, and that one just quit, or was this the first time you turned them on since getting it back?

Sounds like a connection is failing somewhere in that light circuit.  May be due to the mishap.  Let us know what you find.

when i got to work today, i forgot to bring a test light and asked the mech if i could borrow his. he said sure and i told him what was going on.he asked if it was both high beam and low beam out. as i slapped myself upside the head i told him i never thought about putting on the high beams.

went out and had high beams. took out the head light and took my continuity meter and figured i find which wire was broken. unplugged the bulb and the connector and started checking wires. all checked out good. found the problem when i plugged the light back in. the wire in the black socket wasn't locked in and would shift and not make contact. moved the wire around and felt it click in place and then there was light.

what really gets me is that the light worked for a year before the problem showed up.

Vette(s): I have a 1996 Collector Edition coupe with the 6 speed/LT4 engine. Looks and runs like new. 203 coupes were exported to Canada for 1996 and of those, only 83 of them had the Z15 option.
Sometimes the easiest things are the hardest to diagnose. Glad it was an easy fix for you.

Boy, those are the kind of things that happen to me that I NEVER tell my wife about! (the harrassment never stops). Glad it was simple after everything you've been through getting it repaired

I was a Radioman in the USN for 24 years and did my best to eliminate the basic/simple things when troubleshooting any problem.  Sometimes we assume the worst when things don't work properly and "jump off the deep end" when checking the basics would solve the problem.

I'm glad that your solution was simply a loose wire.  The Corvette can sometimes be a "money pit" and it's refreshing to see a problem solved without a lot of money being spent.  Clap
