I just bought my first C4 on Sunday and while reading through the owner's manual last night I ran across the procedure for accessing the "Accessory Plug" on page 76 of the manual. It describes some pretty convoluted instructions for accessing the plug and pulling it into the console. The pictures accompanying the instructions leave a lot to be desired. Apparently, there is already an accessory plug in the car....GM just chose to make it a PITA to use it instead of mounting it somewhere convenient themselves during construction. And one wonders why they went bankrupt!?

I hard wired my GPS and Detecter in by using the power wires in the passenger sunvisor, you can remove the roof and then the top strip were the wires are and use a quick connect, then tuck it all back in. I also found a lighter adapter with three plugs for three things..Life is sweet, whats ya think Joel..The Penquin

I think it's colder in Texas than it is in Alasky...that's what I think...
I just use a "Y" attachment in the ciggy lighter for my "extra" stuff, since the '85 don't have the factory "extra" added wiring discussed here...

Hello everyone. Sure a enjoying reading the posts in all of he diferent topic forums on this site!
I went in yesterday and retrieved these wires on my '94. Pretty simple really, spent more time doing detailed cleaning while I had the center section removed than I did doing the mechanicals.
I plan on installing a cigarette lighter socket later this week so I can charge my phone etc. and still keep the GPS plugged into the lighter on the dash. Anyone have any pics of this mod? I want to flush mount it if possible sinmilar to how most newer cars come today with outlets in the console.
I know it seems tight in there but after years of modiying my Goldwing the 'Vette seems downright spacious!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

a friend of mine mounted a three socket power supply on the passenger side of the console towards the bottom of the hush panel. kept the plugs almost out of sight. plan to do it to mine but haven't gotten to it. only been about 4 years now.

wound up doing it like this. It is easier to plug and unplug things with a bit of cord attached so you can pull it up out of the console. I drilled a hole in the front of the compartment and used a rubber grommet and put strain reliefs on the back side of the cord so it doesn't get pulled too far out.
