I have a 91 corvette and the battery went dead. I charged it and it tests fine but the engine won't crank. I think it has something to do with Anti Theft system. I have 1 set of keys and a remote that doesn't work. Is there a way to bypass the system to get it started?

Does the "Security", or "SYS" light flash when you open the door?
Double-check your battery cables....make sure they are clean and tight.

The security lamp doesn't come on when the door is opened. All the lights work and the cables are clean.

The Security lamp should come on when you open the door. It would flash if the system was armed, or if there is a problem with the anti-theft that would keep it from cranking.
So, it doesn't make any clicking noises or anything? You just put the key in, turn to "Start", and nothing? Do the lights dim any at all when you try to start it?
I can look up the troubleshooting chart for you, but first, check ALL of the fuses, just to be sure nothing silly is going on with a fuse.
I'm assuming this is NOT a ZR1?
Lemmie get some info, and I'll send it to you. Might be later this evening.

The starter enable relay is controlled by the CCM, based on Pass-Key inputs. The on-board CCM
diagnostic system is very comprehensive and powerful. You can test
pretty much anything the CCM controls using in-car systems. No scanner or Tech-1 required.
Run the CCM diagnostics using a jumper in ALDL pin A and G. The Module, Codes, Data, and Status for the tests are displayed in the speedometer. You can also monitor theCCM input status, and cycle the outputs to test their function. I have a 91 Helms Manual that details all this very nicely. It's almost impossible to accurately diagnose problems associated with the CCM without the knowledge to use the on-board system, or have the book that tells how to do it.

Security Light flashes with the door open. On a 91 the theft deterrent system can only be armed with a door open, by locking the doors with the power door locks. The Security light goes = solid-ON when armed. Close the door, security light goes out after a few seconds to indicate the system armed properly.
91's don't use the security light to indicate theft deterrent system faults. Only the system's status when a door is open. Unarmed, or armed. Well, I guess if it isn't doing something (flashing or on) with the door open there's something wrong. Security light shouldn't be off with a door open.
