Hello from Tennessee! Just returned from a trip to Lexington, Ky (first trip in my '92 vette) Actually, my "first vette". I could not charge the battery on my GPS because my lighter wouldn't work. I did not get an owner's manual with this car when I bought it. I am assuming this is a fuse problem. Can someone tell me where the lighter fuse is for this model? OWHYNOT, (Betty)

Vette(s): 1985 Coupe-L98/Auto,Bright Red/Carmine.
1974 Coupe-L48/4speed, Medium Red Metallic/Black Deluxe.
The fuse panel is on the passenger side end of the dash. If you open the pass side door, you'll see the panel on the end of the dash.
It may be a fuse, but it may be something else. Check the fuses first, of course.

it is most likely the fuse like you said. even thought the lighter itself can go bad very rarely does the socket. the only other scenario i can think of would be that your lighter is bad and the end of your charger doesnt make contact correctly. i have had this happen with my cell phone and had to turn the end until it came on .
i hope you had a great ride in your vette and welcome to the corvette owners club. good luck with it. dave

Thanks for the info Adams' Apple
I guess I sound like a "blonde"! I did look at an owner's manual for a '94 Vette, and I did find the panel but I just couldn't tell which fuse went to the lighter. I checked several 15 amp fuses and they were all working. My panel didn't look like the '94. I will recheck again, I have obviously missed something. Did I mention that while I was checking fuses, it was below 30 degrees and snowing! Also, my car traveled wonderfully in the snow even thought I was a nervous wreck. What an experience! ! ! On my way home, I stopped at the Corvette Museum to see if I could locate a '92 auto manual. Didn't have any luck with that but had a great time while at the Museum. If you haven't been there, you must go. Wonderful place. . . .they even have special parking for Corvette owners. I parked my '92 right between to brand new Vettes . . . what a bummer! Thanks again, Betty

Thanks for your reply Dave. I will try connecting the charger again. I made it from the Sheraton in Georgetown Ky to Nashville without my GPS, but then got lost in Nashvile (50 miles from home) go figure! My husband thought there might be another fuse panel under the hood but didn't see one. As I was telling Adams' Apple, if you haven't been to the Corvette Museum, it's a must see! Absolutely awsome. While I was in Ky, I showed a lot of people that a 63 yr old lady CAN get in and out of a Vette gracefully
Luv my Vette . . . . have a great week, Betty

Your '92 has 2 different auxilary fuse "boxes"...each containing 4 fuses...lighter fuse is in box#2.....should be 15 amp.....these are also located inside on passenger side. ..if memory serves you'll need to remove the lower dash panel to gain access...they should be side by side (aux. fuse boxes) close to the the radio receiver---I'm not speaking of the radio dash unit--the receiver is a seperate unit on passenger side.
Thanks Vaughn for the information. This is what my husband was thinking, that there was another fuse box somewhere. This will help him alot. We are both new to the Corvette family and there are many things that we will have to learn. I am trying to locate a '92 manual. I found a '93 at the museum on my way to Ky. On my way home, I stopped to buy it, but it was Sunday and the archive office wasn't open. I will keep looking. I realy need a manual. Have a good evening and thanks again
Betty

As far as your owners manual goes....you might try ebay...they have them in the $50-60.00 range and if you're not in a hurry and keep a eye out on ebay..you can likely find one for less.
It took me close to 3 months to find a pair of factory service manuals at a price I was willing to pay
