Thanks for the suggestions to my question yesterday, however I have a new problem.
The battery is completely dead. When I replace it will the diagnostic codes telling me what caused the car to stop, still come up or are they gone????

depends on the code if there was one set in the first place. some codes are not saved to begin with. they only set for when the problem existed. with the battery out it is possible for the codes to be cleared. it sounds as if it was the battery that caused the car to die.

Any codes it may have had will be gone. As Dave points out, that(the batt) may have been the problem with the car dying, but it may also be an alternator issue. Once you replace the battery, you may want to have the alternator tested, or, if you have a voltmeter, check it yourself, at the battery. You should have at least 14v with the engine running...you can get by with 13v, but 14v would mean you have a good charging system.
