I have an 89 vette. I have a problem with the opening and closing of my headlights. I've been told it's probably the gear in each motor. Is it possible for both to go out at the same time or is it something else?

Vette(s): 1985 Coupe-L98/Auto,Bright Red/Carmine.
1974 Coupe-L48/4speed, Medium Red Metallic/Black Deluxe.
Depends on what the actual problem is.
Do they not move at all, but you can hear the motors running?
Do they not STOP running when they get full open or closed?
Do they "skip" when opening?
Any of these scenarios means bad gears...

May not be bad gears - could be that the nylon bushings are dust. You would hear the motors running but the lights would be acting weird in that case also.
