I'm having issues with the interior lights and hatch release on my 88. When opening either door the interior lights do not come on and the rear hatch switch on both doors doesn't work. I can manually turn the lights on and I have to use the release from inside the center console. Has anybody else run into this problem?
Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help!
Since the hatch release woirks from the center console, but you have no interior lights or hatch release from either door check the door jamb switches. Both the hatch release relay and the courtesy light delay timer relay are in the same circuit for the hatch release switches in the doors. It's wired this way so that the hatch can't inadvertantly be opened while driving without the doors being open. The jamb switches also turn on the interior lights.
With the drivers door open try spraying some penetrating oil or electrical contact cleaner (Radio Shack has the cleaner) into the jamb switch, then push the switch button in with your thumb then let the button pop back in place a few times that MAY get the swich to work again. If not remove the switch and (if my memory is correct) jumper the yellow wire to a known GOOD ground if the interior lights come on then the jamb switches are bad. These switches have been a problem on C4s it's fairly common.
[/QUOTE] I have inside and out on my 85 coupe and the interior lights have a timer and that is what you problem and it is behind the information display also hatch release has a relay that is bad it is located behind the carpet where the hatch lock is located let me know if you have anymore problems or questions thanks Raymond Vreeland
