System was working fine before fob battery change now no go. (Battery in properly)
Checked to see that the PKE system was on (Driver information center light stays on for a couple seconds)..... and tried reprogramming fob to no avail.
Any ideas on where else to look?
TIA
C.

Only help I can offer is:
1-make sure new battery has a charge
2-make sure new battery is in the fob correctly
3-make sure all battery contacts in fob haven't broken (happened to one of mine)
4-follow reprogramming in owners manual and not online.
don't know if any of that will help you
Good luck.

Thanks S-n-V -- new battery checks out good, car battery is good, battery is in fob correctly (tho I haven't checked the contacts) in both fobs and neither one works, tried to follow reprogramming from manual and no go. The flashing Passive Key Entry in the driver info center tells me that the system is on and that the fobs are programmed. There's something intermittent going on -- I had the fob lock the doors a couple times randomly in the last couple days.C.
Some time ago, I posted about a similar problem with my '95 coupe. Finally broke down and bought a new fob, and after programming the new fob, everything was fine for quite sometime. Then recently while driving the door locks cycled, and ever since the system has been just unreliable. I thought I would once again reprogram the fob, but the system will not go into the programming mode; while trying to figure out what was going on, I left the key fob in the car and it locked itself with the keys and fob inside the car - fortunately, I could open it with the spare set of keys - so whatever you do, do not leave the fob inside the car unattended!
I then decided that this system just wasn't worth the trouble and removed the fuse in the PKE circuit and the car locked itself anyway!
I suspect the problem is with the circuit board that controls the system, but am not going to disassemble the dashboard to find out.
Keep the fob away from the car and just use the keys; if this is the only problem you have with your C4 (as it is with mine), I would suggest forgetting about this PKE system, which is just plain more annoying than it is worth.

Lol - seems some of these fobs have a mind of their own......very strange that your car locked itself with the PKE fuse removed.I tracked my problem down to the fob battery not seated properly. I also bought 2 new fobs when I got the car 2 years ago and they've been ok and reliable, (so far).Only other issue I've had is that the CD player doesn't work but I"m not prepared to spend hundreds on a fix.Been a great ride. I really like it.Thanks for the insight.C.
I forgot to mention that I also was using two fobs (one I believe is the original and one new), both of which worked perfectly before the door locks cycled while I was driving.
One thing I learned in my 40+ years of working with electronically controlled devices is not to be surprised by any thing that occurs. I really think that Murphys' Law was created to describe the consequences of using electronic devices.
I am glad to hear that your problem seems to have been resolved rather easily.
As to your CD problem, maybe someday you might have to remove the radio for some reason, and then could take advantage of the repair services offered by many of the Corvette parts, accessories and services websites. In the meantime, enjoy that beautiful Bose sound system.

I would check the door ajar(s) switches & also that the door key locks are in the vertical position. Just a thought.

Thanks for the help,
Cheers, C.I'd like to say I knew the answer because I am simply that brilliant and clever.
Oh well; I just have to settle for the fact that it took me 2 days to figure mine out after a battery replacement.... :)
