Dead  The problem I have is the CD works for a short time then it will not move to a different track.  It keeps reading #2 and thats the only track that plays.  Till the next time I drive it.  Then it plays OK for a short time before it acts up again.

If it' not actually "skipping", then it is probably something that will require removal, and repair at a certified repair center. OR...you could just replace it. Either is gonna cost some Benjamins...

Also; older CD players have a hard time "reading" the digital tracks on newer CD's.
This is very common on home burned CD's at a fast speed.

If you have some older CD's that are not scratched, try those.

A couple years ago I was having a problem with my Bose reading certain discs mainly home burns, but not always. It was also skipping more and more often and was much more suseptable to bumps in the road etc. I found on ebay a "Maxell CD/DVD Lens Cleaner Disc"--the disc has tiny brushes on it --I ran it in mine a couple times and so far (knock on wood) it corrected my troubles. I've used it on my other vehicles just as a sorta maintenance thing. It may not help your problem at all but on the other hand it's a inexpensive thing to try.
