I've had my 1994 vette for a year now, and for the 3rd time the starter wouldn't turn over just like a dead battery. I had driven 50 miles, parked it, cranked it and took off. I parked it for 5 minutes, then it wouldn't crank until after a 10-15 min wait. this happened last sept, then 2 weeks ago, and again today. any ideas?

Hi dan , this is Dan have had my 93' vet for 2 yrs now during first yr mine was doing same thing , another member suggested I might have a parisitic drain , or a week battery ' I swore up and down that my battery was ok , new according to former owner , I check d every fuse I could find with every thing shut off to see if any draw on them , none then test my battery and read 11.98 volts , the minimum should be 12.50 or more ? Good luck Dan
Back again Dinner was waiting , another possible fault , behind the battery is a body ground stap , if it is corroded or loose will give your start circuit Fits to work on strap take battery clear out and behind some wiring clusters and hose you will see the bare silver flat ground strap

Hi Dan.
I had a similar problem- hard/no start when the engine was hot.
In my case it turned out that the exhaust headers (not factory)
were very close to the starter motor and it was getting too hot.
After it cooled down for a few minutes, it started normally.
Fixed it with a insulated blanket wrapped around the starter.
Hope this helps
Fred

My 91 was acting similar.I thought I had it fixed with a cheap bypass from mid america, not so,led to replacing the ignition switch and then I thought I had it fixed, not so,acted up again this year, installed a "Newrockies" that completely by passes the entire VATS system. Not real cheap, install takes a lot of time and a lot of interior removal and replace but...so far since, the car has started every time. Just google newrockies.
When mine acted up, I would turn the key, see all of the instruments, so lots of power, but absolutely nothing at the starter and no sound from fuel pump. Thats the VATS acting up.
Good Luck
