I have a 91 with a after market sound system in it (there when I purchased it) and heard several times this causes the SYS to flash. However, if you I hit the range buttom twice slowly it will clear all the mileage crap, range etc. and the SYS only flashes twice every 60 seconds approx. This helps with the annoyance of all the flashing.
