Getting ready to swap out my 4+3 to a T-5. Found multiple fried wires and the O/D unit is noisy. I am looking for a good T-5 from an 88 or newer F body V8 anyone have one laying around? I'll keep you all posted when I get started.

Just found my tranny. It is out of a 91 firebird. I hope to pick it up by Saturday. Once I get it home I will have to pull the tail shaft off, replace the rear seal, change speedo gears and change the oil. It is getting closer......

Just picked up the important part. Found my tranny in a local scrap yard. It was in a '91 firebird so it is the WC unit. Now I need the mount and some speedo gears and the swap will be ready.

The swap went fairly smooth, still have some things to do. We did the swap in 2 days. We did it the two saturdays before Memorial day, two days later Linda fell and broke her hip. She has been hurting ever since. The doctor had to do a partial hip replacement. She broke the ball off the top of the femor. Needless to say nothing else has been done. I have a clutch issue, weld a bracket ,replace the floor panels and install the new Hurst Shifter. I ordered it from a guy on EBay that just sells Hurst Shifters. I should be working on her again by next weekend. I want this finished soon to put some miles on it before Carlisle
. The swap was straight forward but not quite as easy as it sounded. At my age this is the last major swap of anykind I'll do again but I am glad I tackled this one.

hope the mrs. gets better and feels better. hope you were talking about working on the car this weekend and not her
.

that's always the way it goes---always sounds a lot easier than what it is. it's great though when it's done and you can see the accomplishment. hope the rest goes easy so you can enjoy it with this great weather.
good luck with the rest of it and hope the wife gets better fast.

The project is finished
I finally had the time to get the small things done. The project went on hold when Linda broke her hip. Last week I was able to get the tunnel patched and the console back in. The clutch hose blew on me so I had to replace that and both cylinders. I found a new hose from "Corvette Stainless Steel Brakes in Florida" I installed a Hurst competition plus shifter with a 6 speed camaro 6" straight shift handle. I did not cut and modify the shift handle to put it back in stock position but it is still very comfortable where it sits. It runs a nice 1700 rpm at 70 mph. Didn't make Carlisle this year due to Linda not able to get around well enough to walk all day but there is next year!!

Thanks Eddie, I enjoy driving the car now,it takes the edge off of watching the tach screaming at 2600-2700 rpm with out the OD unit. Linda is doing better, still can't get in the vette but back to work and hobbling around pretty good. Doctor says 6-12 months to get back into the normal life.
but thats ok
Have a great day!!
