I've had my Vette 17 years. It has 85k miles on it. Today I went to take it for a drive and when I started it up it sounded different, the service engine light came on as well as the Service ASR & ASR Off were all displayed. I last drove it two weeks ago and everything was perfect. The car is an automatic. I tried to go ahead and take it for a spin, however as I started to drive it, it didn't want to shift out of 1st, when it did shift it was a very hard shift at a much higher RPM than it normally takes. There was little power in the next gear. When I put the car into R or D, it initially acts like its going to die and isn't idling well. I did not feel comfortable enough with driving it to even leave my neighborhood, so i wasn't able to run to Oreillys and have them check the codes. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

If the ASR is "on" it thinks you have wheel spin, it will take a bunch of timing out and mess the engine up to stop perceived wheel spin. I think you should look for the source of that problem, could be wheel sensor got dirty or gone bad, wires or connector. Shouldn't be too expensive.

Had the same problem on my 1995 LT1 with auto.  Replaces the TPS (throttle position sensor) and problem went away.

What codes are you getting .songs like you need trans .fluid let the transmission worm up ,then check the fluid level ,if low add fluid  according to the dip stick.

Get the codes read first and go from there.  You can check the transmission fluid when its cold just don't change anything.  When it's cold, the reading on the dipstick will be low but close.

I haven't had time to do anything with it yet. You guys have me thinking though...the time before when I drove it and everything was fine, I added a Lubegard transmission treatment to it. I'm betting that jacked something up. It was the first time I've tried using a product like that. I'm probably going to have to tow it in somewhere just to get the codes checked...it was driving that bad.

Why, when, & how much Lubgard did you add?

I've been having a few drips in my garage each time I drive it. The stuff was suppose to help seal leaks and condition/extend the life of the fluid. I just added it within the last month and drove it twice since adding. The day I added it, the car drove fine. It sat in my garage for two weeks and when I went to drive it that's when this problem started.

Can you perform a transmission service yourself (see the thread "Leaking Transmission")?  I recommend doing same regardless of the outcome of the codes.  I do not recommend adding anything to the transmission fluid and using only the synthetic version of the required fluid.

I'll read the thread and see. I haven't done it myself, but willing to give it a shot.
