Has anyone installed the GF Performance Chip kit? It claims to add 60 horsepower add 4-7mpg and lower co emissions by 25-40%. I'm afraid of it and that it might mess up the other emissions and fuel and well, just mess up my engine. I have a 1988. Can anyone advise me?

Unless it comes with a nitrous bottle, I'd be skeptical of the 60 HP gain.  MPG claim maybe.  If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

I'd do some heavy research before spending any  money on the chip set.

I read about it  and  wondered the very same  , But I have yet  to run across anyone that has  installed  one of these Chips on a C4, I've so far picked up mpg's  just by adding  a  K&N factory replacement  air filter , one of those power couplers, And  Cutting out  the  middle  of the Air Filter  Cover ......... I'd say I picked up about  4-6 mpg HWY. I'm going to cut out those screens off of the  MAF next  and then add a Hypertech Chip last .

Big Mike, I get 17.5mpg in the city and 21mpg hyway, so I'm ok with that. I was wanting to affordablely boost my HP and the 60 the GF chip advertises adds would put me well over 300 horses. I will check out the K&N filters.
I called their information line, which must be used for orders too, and the guy did not have time to talk to me which to me is a red flag!

Run Forest...RUUUUUUNNNNN!!!! Shocked

My '85 gets 25mpg on the road....it has a Hypertech chip in it. I gotta agree with the others here....that much of a HP increase claim is gunna be bogus...unless they specify you must do other stuff, also, like a cold air intake, headers/mufflers, etc. Thumbs Down

I hear You Donald  , I Guess  what  I was really trying to say is  ....... Reading this  article C4 Corvette Performance Enhancement - www.c4vettes.com I myself have a lil better understanding on how to get  what You  & I are looking for . I've talked  to a few C4 guys here in Nor-Cal and  They pretty much say do you  Mods  1st and then add the  Chip so it then can Adapt  ( Calibrate ) to what you've added . They all told me the  Hypertech chip was the one to go with  ,If you have a LT4 or  LT1 JET performance also offers something  for them , Jet does make a Chip for the  L-98 But it's only  for the 1987 Model  & Neither of them knew why  . I've also talked to a couple of guys  whom had their ECU's re-mapped  but this was in the early  going of the C4  & now  I can find anyone who has the  software, I went to our  local Chevy  Dealer  ( Biggest  Corvette Dealer ) here in Silicon Valley and  these guys couldn't even tell me  were to find the Emergency Flasher Relay .... They have nothing that goes back that  far  & These are the guys  that have been there for over 20 + yrs , I did find out it's somewhere in the dash that's the answer I got  . I then knew that they really don't think much of the C4, I want  More Horse power & Torque but don't want to tear the engine apart  to do it  ,I'm considering  one of those rear mounted Turbo Kits  I hear  400 Horses @ the rear are not  far fetched .

Hey Guys. If you'd read closely the ad on the CF Chip, you'll see it says ''gains 'up to' 60 more HP''.  So, if it increases even 1 HP it's done it's job. I'd think you may get 3 to 5 HP out of it because most of the chip is probably for the gas mileage part due to a little more timing.

All these ones are the same, I agree with what was said earlier, this would be a maximum along with a lot of other mods.
You do not get 60 more horsepower with a chip

IF I remember cerektly, on my Hypertech, it really only makes a difference at WOT(wide open throttle). I do know I get really good mileage, and it runs really well at all speeds....
