As Dan said Mobil 1 is the factory recommended oil for the LT1--that's all i've ever used in the Vette. I also use it in a V8 Grand Cherokee (went with synthetic at around 90K miles) and in my GMC pick up (went with synthetic at 50K) no problems w/any of them. The only problems I've seen are with engines that are using/leaking oil be it valve seals/guides/rings/gaskets or rear main---synthetic will find it's way out of the engine quicker/easier then conventional oil.

As Vaughn says, synthetics do have a tendency to find any small place it can to leak. The smaller molecules of the stuff just naturally wanna seep out anywhere they can. If you have a leak now, it'll get worse/bigger with synthetic oils.
Other than that, the only real drawback is the cost! That can be off-set by the fact that synthetics will handle heat much better without breaking down, so they do tend to last longer while still being effective.

basically it was only about $10 more. a guy i know with a 95 was talking to me about it so ifigured i would breakdown and try it. went with penzoil as he stated he has had no problem with it and has always had good luck with it. i can understand the advantages of it but i hate it when some shops push it on people and charge them twice as much for it especially if they cant really afford it. eddie20890 2010-07-02 18:29:18
