My 94 has a leaking transmission. I have had 2 shops replace the pan gasket with one of them doing it 2 times and still it leak's when running. is this a common issue with the 94? the leak started with a drip and now it is a steady drip when the engine is running. I have been told that I need to replace the pan. I am past the age of getting under a car so I have to depend on what the mechanic tells me and the last one gave up and gave me my money back. I have had the vet in the shop for the last 3 weeks and summer is going fast in the north/east.

I had a 94 LT1 automatic and changed the transmission fluid & filter regularly myself. I never had any problems. It is possible that you need a new pan. All of the pan bolts should be torqued when servicing is done. If not, it will crack, distort, and/or lead to breakage. The torque specification for the pan bolts is 97 In. Lbs. and use a light Locktite on the bolts to prevent loosing. As you can see, that is not very tight.

Your leakage problem could just be the pan is being tightened too much & it's squeezing the pan gasket out from behind the mating surfaces. If the pan was over tightened a lot, then the pan at the bolt holes could be distorted. The holes would look like they are dimpled instead of being flat. If the pan is distorted, you could try hammering them flat but there's no guarantee that would work. Also, make sure the fluid level is not too high when the car is warmed up.
Are you sure its the pan & not the front seal? Drop the flywheel cover & check to see if leakage is coming down from the front seal, on to the leading edge of the pan & then blowing back in the wind from the car's movement.

When I got it back from the trans shop, for the first time in 4 years I don't have to put a drip pan under it.They dropped the trans down and resealed everything, tailshaft, filler port, pan,spedo cable, and also found the 02 sensor wirers shorted. I have had it back for about a week and think that instead of trading I will keep it. Special problems call for Special talent. Suck it up and have A PRO look at the problem. After all what is more important, a little money or a vette that don't leak.
