WHAT THE EASIEST WAY TO PULL MOTOR ON A C4 ??? I HAVE IT TORN DOWN TO SHORT BLOCK AND STILL CAN'T GET TO TRANS/MOTOR BOLT'S??? EXHAUST IS ALREADY OUT OF CAR ALSO,PLEASE HELP IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTION'S,THANK YOU.

Bottom two bellhousing bolts are easy. The middle and top bolts are tough, but not impossible. All will need to be removed from the bottom/under the car. Long extension, and a wobble socket are your best friends for this job. Be sure to take note of the ground wires on the bellhousing bolts. very important that they be put back when re-installing the engine. If this is an automatic trans, you'll need to remove the 3 torque converter bolts from the flywheel, too.

What I did a few years ago when I pulled the engine from my 87 Vette was that I removed the headers, motor mounts and front crank pully, then dropped the engine as low as it would go onto the front cross member. Now I had a bit more room to access the top bell housing bolts. I did form a piece of heavy gauge wire for the shape of a handle as a form to make a custom wrench. I then cut an open end and boxed end wrench and welded the ends to a 3/8" Rod to bent the the shape of the wire. Now I had a wrench that woud easily fit the top bell housing bolts. So much simpler then using extensions and universals. Keep in mind that most engine hoists will not extend far enough out to lift the engine straight out from the front of the Vette. You will need to position the lift from the side of the car.😉 if you like I can post pictures of the wrenches I made. Good luck.
