I left from my home in Nashville Today and drove to Bowling Green Ky. and had a great day at the Nat'l Corvette Museum. left from there and headed home, during the trip my friend that went with me, gave me the kiss of death by talking about how he liked the strong way the car started up and sounded with the flow master exhaust. I stopped at a local winery on the way home for a couple bottles of my wife's favorite wine (Which I figured I better do considering the money I just spent at the Museum Store.) Went back out to the car to head on home, put in the key, turned it on, everything came on, but the motor never made a sound. Checked battery connections, they were good. Brand new battery, everything came on fine, stereo, dash lights, head lights, but nothing from the motor not even a click.

Called a wrecker and hauled it to the garage where it will have to sit till Monday. I'm thinking "starter" but anyone else got any suggestions.

it sounds like the vats system. it's the anti theft system that is known for this and sounds exactly what you described. sometimes you can take a different key and it will work. it could be also that your key is dirty. the chip that is on the key is what completes the circuit. there are some posts on here that tell you how to bypass it. let us know what happened and good luck. eddie20890 2010-08-15 05:27:31

Sounds like I need to run to the shop and use the extra keys to see if it works before I start paying labor charges then. Thanks...Will let you know if it works.

Eddie,
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.... Went to the shop with my extra keys and she fired up like nobody's business. Drove her home and tried the original set of keys too, she fired up then too. So I still don't know if it was the starter or the keys, but I am betting on the key. You saved me a few dollars on labor charges, so I owe you a beer if you ever get down around Nashville.

packing my bags now
. probably was the vats system. if it sets off you either have to wait a bit to start it or walk a certain distance away to reset it. as i said there are a few other posts on here dealing with the vats and if you want how to bypass it.

glad it worked out
