"83"! This is a SCAM! Do some homework!
"83"! This is a SCAM! Do some homework!
Not so fast champ.
Though Chevy did not make a production 1983 model, some people still called the early year 1984's an 83.
The above member has shown photos of his car, and parts, they appear to be actual Vette parts, and the photo posted of his freshly painted white car is a Vette.
Why he calls it an 83 model is not known, but that does not mean anything written/posted is a scam.
And lastly; everything purchased from the FS sub-forums should always be looked at as "Buyer Beware" in the sense that due diligence should be done before a purchase.
I'll never understand why people get rid of these things. My '89 (built Sept, 88) is so rotten it probably wouldn't roll more than two blocks, but it still holds 60 lbs. of air. I worry way more about being rear ended (I KNOW I have better brakes than the guy behind me) than I do about a few extra lbs. If I REALLY need to save weight, I'll kick my girlfriend out of the car!
“...Though Chevy did not make a production 1983 model, some people still called the early year 1984's an 83....”
Never identified, referred to, or indicated car was an 1983
From the listing : “... removed for first time since installed on car in March of 1983 ... #3963...”
“... Why he calls it an 83 model is not known,...”
One more time :
From the listing : “... removed for first time since installed on car in March of 1983 ... #3963...”
Never called it an 83 model

If someone’s actually interested in purchasing the items I’d be happy to provide verification of serial number, correspondence from the National Corvette Museum and documentation from a well known and long established Corvette shop that removed it all.

“...Chevy did not make a production 1983 model,...”
This is misleading:
Chevrolet PRODUCED many thousands of Corvettes in 1983 initiating PRODUCTION on or about 3 January 1983.
They did not skip the 1983 PRODUCTION year.
They skipped the 1983 MODEL year.
————————-
I deliberately listed the date of the car’s production and corresponding serial number to accurately identify the age of the parts.
Had I listed the parts as having been removed from an “early 1984” and no serial number - that could mean they were off a car produced for example, in March 1983 OR, REPEAT OR, March 1984.
Many, many small ( and large ) modifications/changes were made throughout the extraordinarily long “1984 MODEL year” as documented by the NCRS.
At some point the “bag” the jack was packaged in was changed from originally plastic to woven material. If one were to want a unit with the correct packaging - per serial number - identifying the date of MANUFACTURE and serial number is necessary.

“... I'll never understand why people get rid of these things... If I REALLY need to save weight, I'll kick my girlfriend out of the car!”
I’m getting rid of it so I can save weight and KEEP my girlfriend in the car !
Will “part out” the assembly ...
