I 'am thinking about changing my fuel pump and sending unit as my fuel gauge does not work. the part that bothers me is the fuel pressure. In reading about changing the fuel filter the pressure seems to be just be careful and loosen the bolts. In my repair manual it said to disconnect battery and then it basically is a simple process except for the note on fuel pressure. Since I would be dealing with the pump submerged in a full tank of gas I do not feel this is a good idea for me to tackle. The big cost is in the part cost 250 to 325 the labor I would think would not take an hour.
As any one had this done in a shop and what did it cost you? The hour labor could save me a car, house and me.
Thanks for any help.

Not a big deal...
Simple solution.....change fuel filter first as that will relieve the fuel pressure, then R&R the pump.A filter should always be replaced with a new pump.

One other thing; the pressure is in the line, not inside the tank.
