i need to replace my fuel pump in my 84. i was reading about someone replacing his pump on a 84 and using an 85 pump on this forum in a older post. the only thing said in the post was the 85 pump and sending unit was better than the 84. whats the advantage of this. has anyone changed out there pump from an 84 to a 85 unit?.would like to know whats the difference is.

this is only my opinion. if you put in a higher pressure pump, the pressure regulator would regulate where it should be and the computer, injectors, etc control the volume of gas that the engine needs to run at the proper mixture, so i don't see any advantage of it. the only way i could see it benefiting anything was if you were having other mods done that those changes would be needed. again, this is just my opinion.
