I have plenty of Stabil on hand....just gunna make sure it runs out otay before I do anything else, in case I wind up having to drain the tank again. I'm gunna put some ATF in it first....that'll help clean everything. I haven't changed the main filter yet...I wanted to run it for a few miles first, and let the old filter get clogged up, instead of a new one. Ya never know. Mama's gunna start using it for short runs around town, so it'll get some exercise.

JOEL, how was the tank? i hope it didn't look like the fuel pump sending unit. what did you use to suck up the crap in the tank? I'm asking you that because i have to do the same thing to mine. i went out to fire it up , and i had a no start. listen for the fuel pump noise there was none. dead, ran a fuel pressure test zero pounds. according to my manual it looks like a easy job to replace. i just hope i don't have to replace the tank. now thats a job and a half.

Jonney, my tank had a lot of crap in it. I used a suction pump to pump out the old nasty fuel, and it sucked up MOST of the doo-doo from the bottom of the tank...but not ALL of it. The tank itself has a coating on it on the inside, so it is not rusted...just the sending unit metal.
Before tearing into yours, first check ALL of the fuses, and the fuel pump relay. You should be able to ground the "G" terminal of the ALDC(Assembly Line Diagnostic Connector), and the fuel pump should run. If it does not, check fuses, then the relay, before pulling the pump/sender unit.
I have a diagram of the ALDC terminals here somewhere....
Here it am....to test the fuel pump, jumper the "G" terminal to ground, the turn the key on. This turns the pump "On", and keeps it on for as long as the terminal is grounded. Don't keep it grounded for too long, tho, if it does not run. IF the fuel pump is damaged/shorted, it COULD cause a fire. My pump was stuck to where it would not spin, and it got hot and started smoking. I tested mine with it OUT of the tank.

Sorry to hear (and see) the troubles you have encountered wid Mamma's ride. "The Toy" has sat stationary for the better part of the past three years, only moved under its own power last fall to climb up on a trailer to go to a winter storage spot. When she comes home in the spring the carb is going to get rebuilt, the go-juice tank pumped and flushed, and then its goin' to spend more time on the road this year.
I can't even begin to imagine what's in the tank (and carb) of the '28 Model A. Until we rolled it into the sunshine last fall that one had been sittin' in Uncle's garage since the mid-1980s. Once the weather gets above freezing on a regular basis I'll start prepping "Betty" for returnin' to the road.
