My 95 vette seems to be running hotter than normal. When driving on open road 60 mph temps are 201 F. But when in town temp goes to 230 F twin fans appear to energize at 228 and off at 215. The range seems to high. I believe it used to energize at 216 Is the switch adjustable? Where is it located and how hard is to replace it. Any help would be appreciated. Byron.

Member in Muncy PA. it looks like the fan switch and fans are ok and keeping the engine at the right temp.you need to check in front of a/c condenser and radiator for leaves ,trash blocking air to the fans,i will bet that is your problem, good luck.don't cost you any money..
My 91 used to run quite warm, in fact it blew the head gaskets and I had to get the heads redone. It wasn't cheap.
After that the temps were ok on the road, but in town it would creep up to 3/4 or more fairly quickly. My mechanic told me all of the fans and temperature controls were ok.
The airspace between the rad and the AC condenser was clear, at least as far as I could see. So whats left?... The radiator... The rad has had fluid flowing in it for over 20 years, and its probably gummed up.
I spent $250.00 for a new rad and antifreeze. The switch out took about 4 hours, its really just some nuts and bolts, and some care on refill to avoid air pockets. The old rad did have some debris in the fins, but it was up in the top left corner where you cannot see and you could not reach to clean unless you take the rad out.
It now runs with the temp guage mostly at 1/4, I just drove down through the Majove Desert in 104 Deg F. Temp guage never reached 1/2. It can idle in traffic for long periods without concern and fuel mileage has picked up.
Thats my 2 cents, Good Luck.

Thanks for the info! I need to do my radiator as well.
You mention getting the air out..... Any advise or best practices you can share? Thx you
Do your research again using a scanner. I believe you will see that all is normal. For some reason many of the 95-96 corvettes temp gauge read 20 to 30 degrees too high. The switch is not adjustable as there is no "switch" on the OBD2 cars that's assuming yours is. OBD2 goes by a program in the ECU and you can change some parameters in this unit with an interface.
