I thought it might be a neat way to start off a new forum if we each wrote a bit about why we have our C4's.Like D.D. ,Drag Racing ,Track etc.

Because I am semi retired my 87 roadster is a toy,or maybe a therapy machine for the inner child.

To me my roadster is the ideal "sports car" 240 HP 345 lb/ft torque with the Z 52 handling pkg. in a 3200 lb.car = Balance that to me is a sports car.

Can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon than going for a 100 mile drive each way to have a coffee,
.

I'm not semi-retired, but my '86 is also a toy and my therapy machine. Nothing better than the top down on a summer evening crusing at the lake.

Vette(s): 1993 Corvette Coupe, auto, white, grey interior, stock
I wish I was semi retired but I'm not. I'm 53 years old and still working. Anyway I recently purchased my first Corvette about 6 months ago as a second car, to be used as a daily driver when I'm not using my SUV (Hummer). I had an old '85 Honda CRX Hatchback, 2 seater, 5 speed, that I really liked. I was looking to replace it with another 2 seater type car, and one thing led to another and I fell in love with the Corvette which I always liked but never seriously persued. I was looking for an affordable muscle car and hense the Vette. I found a really, really clean, complete '93 white, auto, with a grey interior, all stock, except for the Magnaflow mufflers and high performance brake pads and rotors I installed when I got it. It is all complete, meaning everything works the way it should, all stock equipment, and excellent to mint condition for the year! I am a real fanatic when it comes to a car being complete meaning everthing has to work as it was intended. The only issue right now is my lumbar sport seat on the drivers side desn't pump up and that's because the is I beleive because there is a broken air line from the pump. I do wish it was black and a 6 speed but it was the cleanest Vette I could find at the time. I do have to confess though now that I am a Vette fan, I am already looking to purchase a C5 because of everthing i heard and read about them. I also have another hobby that I dearly love and that is motorcycling. I have a '94 Harley Heritage Softail Custom, with a worked motor, really quick.
Well, that about sums up my story. Thanks for listening!

The lumbar membrane could also be ruptured.  I saw a post somewhere on another forum that mentioned an economical fix.  I'll try and find it.
---------------------------------------

My love of Corvettes, and cars in general, goes back to when I was six years old.  Bought the '70 roadster (aka "The Toy") as a high school graduation present to myself (30 years late!) and found a FANTASTIC group of friends in the C3 Vette Registry.  My wife found our '78 TransAm (aka "BIGBRRD") in the Saturday morning paper's classified section so it has become our anniversary car (as we were married in 1978).  She also found our '90 ZR-1 (aka "The Beast") in the classifieds and it has been a surprisingly pleasant road car (not to mention a BLAST to drive!).

So while I'd like to be retired I'm going to have to keep working for a few more years in order to pay the insurance and fuel bills...!!!

Last year I bought my 84 in California and the closest I could get it shipped was Flint Michigan. I live close to Manitoulin island in northern Ontario Canada.. We have a Honda CRV so we drove to Flint to pick it up, stops for gas and food.. (My daughter & SIL in Cal. checked out the car, both into vettes). After the drive to Flint, it took me about an hour to be able to move normally. After picking up the vette I was in heaven, we drove all the way home without stops, other than one for gas, no problem.. Wife said my cheshire cat grin was quite noticeable, and no discomfort.. Only mod I know of is Flowmaster exhaust, and not planning any. Need to do some cosmetic body work, but that is as time and money permits..

My 93 was acquired almost by accident.  I had a boat I was trying to sell with little success, finally got someone who was interested but did not want to pay my price.  He noticed all the tools in my garage and asked if I would be interested in swapping for a Corvette?  As a lifetime Mopar guy my first reaction was "hell no", but eventually my brain kicked in, figured it had to be easier to sell a Vette than a boat.
After looking at the car we made the deal, even swap no money changed hands.  What I didn't anticipate was my wife falling in love with the Vette.LOL
It is her toy, I get my enjoyment from modification and maintenance, retired mechanics need something to do and I can't afford a Viper!

I am retired Big%20smile. I bought my 86 coupe about five years ago as a fun week end summer driver. I put in new interior, Magnaflow exhaust cat back, free flow cat, new "Y" pipe w/o pre cats, new ZR1 275x40x17 wheels with Sumitumo HTRZII tires and several engine chrome pieces. It's just a big boys toy and I enjoy showing it.
