I was away from this and other forums for a few months after I found out that my company was closing the location at which I worked.  That meant making the search for a new job my #1 priority.  I found something, but it wasn't what I ultimately wanted.  Of course, I took it anyway, but continued to look.  I've now been working at a place I really enjoy for about a month.  So, things are calmed down and I'm getting back to forums and such.

Anyway, hubby and I have recently done some work on our vettes.  My 85 stalled on the way home one night.  It felt like she ran out of gas, even though there was nearly a full tank.  Testing with a fuel pressure gauge showed very, very low pressures.  A new fuel pump, screen and fuel filter put her happily back on the road.  The performance improvement was immediately noticeable and very striking!  Clearly, even though the old (original) pump was working, it wasn't working all that efficiently.  I have noticeably better response and better fuel economy now.  Also, in this cold weather, I was finding she wasn't heating up adequately.  A new thermostat took care of that.  Now, she's running at a "healthier" temperature, and I notice that this also seems to have improved things, as well.  The longer I have her, the more I enjoy her.  And, I seem to drive her a lot these days.

As for our 95, she got a new fuel pressure regulator.  I hope they'll both be happy for a while.  I'm really looking forward to another summer of enjoying these cars, especially with the improvements in the 85's performance.   The next planned work is new rubber for the 85's suspension.  She's sounding a bit creaky and such.  We'll have our vette mechanic take care of that, as it looks like a big job, and we don't have all the necessary tools, I think.  The cars are definitely a hobby, not just transportation.  Smile

Welcome back...glad to hear your Vette's fuel issues are corrected and all is well. Here in central New York we wait yet another snow storm as my 95 stays covered and tucked away in the garage awaiting the spring thaw. Again welcome back!

Welcome back!  I also dealt with fuel issues on my 1990.  I was having the no idle issue, but thankfully my mechanic his stuff and had car back to me in no time.  Sadly my Corvette is under a cover waiting for no more snow.  We've had some unseasonably warm weather here in Utah, so might need to get her out and stretch her legs!

I was also wondering about you. I guess we all missed you, and welcome back.
Nothing like a change in life to get things going again. Although no one wants to see any business go under, sometimes a change is just what we need.

Glad to hear you are getting some use out of your car. Up here in the great white north; I am awaiting the spring clean-up and all salt to disappear, and then it will be cover off time.

Thank you all so much for the welcome back greetings. After reading, I was reminded how nice it is to live in a mild weather area. I like being able to enjoy the cars any time. Anyway, this really is a nice forum.

Hey, Laurieb is back! Glad to hear all is well in your world now....

I know what you mean about creaking like an old person. That's exactly what I'm doing next on my '84. I just got done going through both windows with new ribbons, aligning and readjusting both windows and new targa and B pillar weatherstriping. It's nice and warm inside....even had to turn the stereo down...LOL
