My dad is looking to purchase a 1993 40th Anniversary C4 as he had a C3 back when he was younger and loved it. We are looking at a car with 39k miles selling for $15k. When inspecting the car what are some particular issues/areas should we be aware of to look at? I've heard the distributors of these can sometimes not be very reliable but how would I be able to tell if it has been replaced with one of the newer "vented" varieties?
What else?
Anyone else have any free CarFax reports to check out on this car?

Thanks in advance!

Hi jwi, Welcome to the best site for C4's. To answer (or give my opinion) if you're going to spend $15,000 then it certainly justifies spending $30 for your own CarFax.
The Optispark is on the front of the engine under the waterpump. From the drivers side reach down underneath the waterpump. Follow the sparkplug wires until you feel the Optispark. On the rear side of the optispark about 2" in from the edge will be a plastic nipple for a vent hose which comes up between the alt and motor and plugs into the air intake hose. Dave
