Get both FSM's for your car....its the best thing you can do no doubt about it.
They are everywhere, but the best price I have seen is FleaBay.

Absotively, Posolutely, get the Factory Service Manuals....best $$ you'll ever spend, if you plan on actually working on your own car, or....even if you just want to know if the guy that IS working on it knows what he's talkin aboot...
I got the one for my '85 at a local swap meet for $40, and the one for my '74 was $40 too, at the same meet, just different years. I even found one for the '67 Corvette at an antique mall...got it for $20, and I've seen the same on on fle-bay for over $100.
Get one...you'll be glad ya did.

The FSM, (red cover, not the white prelim edition) is one of the best investments you will make if you wrench your own car. And as mentioned, will give you great insight if someone else is doing it. It was written by aliens
, but once you get the hang of it, you'll understand how to do stuff.

When I bought my 93 the first thing I did was put gas in it (because the seller left me with one bar on the gas gauge). The nest thing I bought was the FSM on Ebay. (Get the two volume red cover set). It is invaluable for anyone who works on their own car. I've even loaned it to my mechanic if I needed work that I didn't feel able or have the time or tools to do.

Far as I am concerned the FSM I bought was a great investment. I have worked on cars my whole life, and there is so much more info in there. There are diagnosis steps in there that allow for you to find out what is wrong as well as telling you how to actually do the repair.
