I am kinda new here. last fall I bought a 1984 bright red vette. In really good shape, not a show car but it was was very well taken care of with only a few minor cosmetic things to replace, weatherstripping and the like. the car has 90K one owner miles and was sold by his estate. They couldn't get $6000 for it, after a few months I heard about it and got it for $5500.00. Cleaned it up fixed the minor stuff and last night at a gas station where they have a hot rod show each week, one of the guys that had a very nice street rod walks over and says "what year?" I tell him 84, he says give you 11k a $250 deposit tonight and pick it up tomorrow. My wife very politely but sternly says no thank you.
So I guess they are worth something to somebody.
Personally I really like the car, because its my first one, sounds bad ass and its a really cool looking car; it still turns heads when we drive by.
Thanks, great forum.

Vette(s): 1986 Malcolm Konner commerative edition
I just sold my 1986 Malcolm Konner corvette for 25k on ebay first time around.I was told by an expert that knew Zora Duntov and a bunch
of GM people it wasn't worth over 15K although it is a very rare one of 50 every produced and the only commemorative dealer car produced with 17k original miles and very clean. You cant go by anyones expert opinion, the market accepts and rejects on a dime.

Ijust got a '96 LT4, traded off my 1980 4speed manual for it. They were in comparable condition and mileage, the 96 id about a gazillion times more fun to drive has lots more power and gets better fuel mileage all at the same time. ya cant put a price tag on "Fun to drive"

If you're never out of control you're not driving fast enough
I bought mine because I love Corvettes, not as an investment. I looked until I found one with all the options I wanted (Z51, 6spd, big brakes, etc) and don't regret it for a minute. Great gas mileage, great looks and a blast to drive. Joined an active Corvette club and we have fun and meet great people.

Thanks. I've had it about 5 years now. When I doubt the car, I just take it for a ride and all is right with the world.
Damn your Mustang is fast.....

You was really hauling ass when I passed you...

Proud owner of a near mint 86'.
Here is my example of the "Corvette Mystique" and why cost doesn't count.
Not long after buying it a man approached me at a convenience store to admire my ride. We both agreed on the car being our High School Dream Car. He thanked me for the chat and then got into his new Audi A8. I was floored. I get an amazing amount of looks in this car. And this guy genuinely admired my $4500 investment. However, no one seemed to blink an eye towards the over $100K luxury vehicle he has.,,,,,
Mind-Blown!!

Soo, an idiot that has no C4 parts on hand considers himself an "expert" on things Corvette - only hope the worst for a man who owns a business and is that stupid.
There is no such thing as a Corvette that isn't worth anything, some, of course are worth more dollars than others, but at the end of the day the true worth of any Corvette is what the car means to the owner.
As an 11 year-old kid, I saw my first Corvette in 1953 and knew that someday I would need to have a car like that; well, life happens, and after mortgages, kids and college for kids (and 58 years later) I have a Purple 1995 coupe, that to me is just priceless. I would like someday to own a C6, but won't even consider that unless my financial condition will allow me to keep the C4 as well.
Every ride brings many "thumbs-up", lots of conversations when stopping for food or fuel.
What a great car ---- enjoy the ride.
